Intro

'Digital Rights, Licensing and Ownership' deals mostly with copyright and the importance of crediting sources.

In Year 2, all the pupils need to be able to do is add their name and the date to their work and understand why this is important.

Framework

1.3 - Digital Rights, Licensing and Ownership

  • add their name and the date to work they have created and give reasons why this is important, e.g. type their first name and surname, add a date to pieces of work and orally provide reasons for doing so.

Vocabulary

name     date     digital     ownership

The Citizenship strand is slightly different from the other three in that it focuses as much on information as it does on skills. There are also Online Safety year-by-year schemes of learning created by South West Grid for Learning on behalf of the Welsh Government which cover much of the Citizenship strand. This resource can be found on Hwb (link below)

We therefore restrict ourselves in the Citizenship strand to a few quick suggestions for activities, focusing on those few aspects of Citizenship not covered by the SWGfL schemes.

Activity Suggestions

Even for this simplest of elements (all they need to learn is how to write their name and the date on their work!) there is assistance from the SWGfL's resource. (They may have done this lesson whilst in Year 1).

Lesson 4, Year 1 of the SWGfL's Online Safety Resource is called 'My Creative Work' and is all about pupils about adding their names and date to their work.

All that's new in Year 2 is that you explain why this is important:

  • So that everyone knows who did the work.
  • So nobody else can claim they did it.
  • So you can remember when you did the work.
